Each meeting should have a common feel to it. Here are some ways to make this work.
Meetings are the core of Magnificat Moms. It is where moms gather to learn and grow in friendship and faith. Each parish is unique and we encourage you to choose activities and speakers that reflect and pertain to your community. In the following pages, you will find ideas for speakers, crafts, activities, book clubs, and play dates.
We encourage you to start and end each meeting with a prayer. You might choose The Magnificat or the Motherhood Prayer. These prayers can be downloaded in a printable format at the bottom of the page.
Prayers for expectant Moms: Invite your parish Priest to stop by during your meeting to say a special blessing over expectant moms as their due date approaches.
Choose a specific Marian Apparition or Saint for each meeting and pray for their intercession, using their saint prayer.
Special intentions from moms allow moms to share what they need prayer for.
The Magnificat is a good prayer to include as a continued devotion and recognition of our vocation as mothers.
My soul magnifies the Lord
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
Because he has regarded the lowliness of his handmaid;
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed;
Because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name;
And his mercy is from generation to generation
on those who fear him.
He has shown might with his arm,
He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and has exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has given help to Israel, his servant, mindful of his mercy
Even as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity forever.
Holy and Gracious Father,
Through the gift of motherhood, you have blessed me with children. Placing them intentionally and perfectly within my caring arms and heart. Lord, please be near to me as I live out this blessed vocation and fulfill its duties according to Thy Will. Give me the eyes to see you in my children, your heart to love them and your gentleness to help them grow.
Mother Mary, I find comfort in knowing that you have walked the path of motherhood already. May the goodness of your gentle heart always fill me with the grace and mercy of your son, Jesus.
Dear Lord, please watch over mothers everywhere. Keep them and protect them.
Set aside a few minutes to recognize birthdays, anniversaries, new moms, new expectant moms, and any other celebrations.
Mentor Mom Minute
If you have mentor moms in your group, ask them to prepare a short story, reflection, advice, etc. to share with the group.
Here are a few free printables to get you started.
Choose a verse for your group to memorize. Perhaps choose 2-3 verses per year. Proverbs 31 is a wonderful chapter to start from for verses pertaining to motherhood. Two of these verses can be downloaded below.
